There are 4 main regions in Thailand and there are their own signature soups that can tell you more about people’s life.

Start with the Northern region, the paradise of nature lovers, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai are the most popular cities there. Because of the location that is near Burma, some of the Northern foods have Burmese influences such as the very popular “Kang Hang Le”.

“Hang Le (Northern-Style Thick Pork Curry)” is a signature dish of the Northern region of Thailand; it is quite different from other curries because of the thickness and the Burmese-mixed-Indian style curry paste. It often cooked with pork and pork belly, keep this curry not too oily by adding some sliced pineapples. It is quite high calories from fat to keep people warm in cold weather, but unforgettable delicious.

Change the route to the region of Mae-Kong river culture, the North-Eastern region, which is very close to Lao PDR, Cambodia and Vietnam. Due to the dry weather, people have to keep fishes in many styles to eat all year; the signature food of this region is “Pla Ra (Thai-Style Anchovy)”.

They cooked Pla Ra in many ways; one of the popular dishes is Kang Aom Kai Sai Pla Ra (Vegetables and Herbs Soup with Chicken)”. It is healthy food because of vegetables and herbs include Dill which adds special smell to this soup. Chicken is just the runner-up for this dish because the highlight is the unique flavor from Pla Ra, it is quite natural salty with calcium from fish bones.

Follow by the seas in the Southern region of Thailand. Phuket and Samui are the dream destinations of honeymooners and the beach lovers. Of course, seafood is the must!! But try signature dish to spice your life up, it is “Kang Leung Pla Nor Mai (Spicy and Sour Fish Soup with Bamboo Shoot)”.

Thai people add turmeric (cause of yellow color) in curry paste that help your digestion and cut strong smell of seafood. This dish needs your courage to try because of the very hot and very spicy taste, but you will dream of after try once.

Finish this trip by the centre of Thailand, the Central region, say “Hello” to Bangkok before take a rest with the all-time favorite soup called “Tom Yum Koong (Spicy and Sour Prawn Soup)”.

This spicy and sour soup is always on the chart. It is low calories and very healthy dish because of herbs such as Kaffir Lime leaves, Lemongrass and Galanga that help your digestion and the aromatic oil from the herbs will make you relax and refresh.
